Youth Bi-Stake Beach Party

Our youth had a great time at the Bi-Stake Beach party in Sandbridge. They spent the day playing on the beach (and in the water) and chowing down on some good cook out food - burgers, dogs, etc.

Afterward, the enjoyed a dance held at the Sandbridge building. All had a great time.

Joseph Smith Moves Comes to the Naro

The Joseph Smith movie, Volume 1: Plates of Gold, played at the Naro on Colley Avenue in the Ghent section of Norfolk.

The actor portraying Joseph in the movie, Dustin Harding, served a mission in New Hampshire and had a big part in the movie playing the east coast this summer before opening in Utah in September.

The youth leaders took the ward youth to the movie (which all enjoyed) - and had the pleasure of having their picture taken with "Joseph Smith"

Youth Temple Trip

We took our youth up to the Washington DC Temple to do baptisms. We LOVE going, but the trip ended up taking 14 hours this time, with the bookstore stop, filling gas tanks, dinner at Pierce's BBQ and TRAFFIC!! Whew. What a day. A glorious day.

Our smiling faces. °Ü°

Farewell Jake Mitchell - You Will Be Missed

The Mitchell family, of Norfolk 2nd Ward, is moving to Missouri. Our youth, our wonderful, caring, youth, would not let Jake leave without giving him a potluck going away party. (our youth's love for parties had absolutely NOTHING to do with the decision. Haha)

Mary made an awesome card that all attendees signed.

There was also a roast and Jake was such a good sport. *Ü*

Here are some pics from that evening...

FYI: Sis. Olsen, of Norfolk 2nd Ward, brought a delicious dish and gave permission to share the recipe.

Queenie Jeanies Fruit and Cheese Confetti Salad

1 Small jello package - any flavor
1 Cup cottage cheese
1 Can pineapple tidbits (can use sliced - but cut into smaller pieces, etc)
1 Tub Cool Whip
2 Cups tiny marshmallows

Mix jello and cottage cheese. Stir in pineapple and marshmallows. Fold in Cool Whip.
Yummm. Thanks, Sis. Olsen

Brother David Block Goes Through the Temple

Brother David Block went through the Washington DC Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Thursday, August 4th, 2011.

Brother Dan Lee and son, Peter, rode along with the Blocks and shared that special day with them.

Brother Block asked former Bishopric member (and dear friend), LaVar Huntzinger, to be his escort. Sister Judy Huntzinger joined us as the day would not have been complete without her. Oh, how the Huntzingers are missed!

Dan and Peter Lee touching the temple. Brother Lee likes to take Peter to touch the temple regularly. *Ü*
